Against this backdrop, CPS is seeking an accomplished and forward-thinking executive to serve as Sworn/Civilian Deputy Chief, Bureau of Service Support. This is a significant leadership opportunity to influence the future of one of Canada’s largest municipal police services and shape the technology, infrastructure and support capabilities that will enable operational policing excellence in the years ahead.
Reporting directly to the Chief of Police and serving as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Sworn/Civilian Deputy Chief will provide enterprise leadership across CPS and contribute to the overall strategic direction of the Service. The Sworn/Civilian Deputy Chief will lead the development, delivery and continuous improvement of services that support operational policing, ensuring CPS remains responsive, innovative, fiscally responsible and equipped to meet evolving community and organizational needs.
Leading the Bureau of Service Support, the Sworn/Civilian Deputy Chief provides executive oversight to Information Management & Virtual Policing, Information Technology, and Infrastructure & Fleet Services. This broad and impactful portfolio encompasses technology modernization, digital transformation and innovation; information technology and digital service delivery; artificial intelligence and emerging technologies; cybersecurity governance and cyber resilience; technology investments, architecture, infrastructure and digital platforms; and facilities, fleet and asset management.
Beyond the leadership of the Bureau, the Sworn/Civilian Deputy Chief will play an important role in advancing innovation and modernization across CPS. They will provide strategic oversight for long-term capital planning, facilities modernization and critical infrastructure resilience and continuity, while championing sustainability and environmental stewardship. Working collaboratively across the Service and with government, academic institutions, technology partners, industry leaders and other key stakeholders, the Sworn/Civilian Deputy Chief will build partnerships that support innovation and strengthen the technology and infrastructure capabilities required for modern policing.
The successful candidate will bring at least 10 years of progressive senior leadership experience preferably from large, complex public safety organizations. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary portfolios and major transformation or capital initiatives. Experience overseeing enterprise technology, digital transformation, infrastructure, facilities or asset management is required. An undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and law enforcement experience is required; a graduate degree is an asset.
CPS is seeking a highly respected, credible and inspirational leader committed to the ongoing professionalization of the Service and to strengthening innovation, operational support and the development of future leaders. The successful candidate must be able to obtain RCMP Top Secret Security Clearance. For sworn members, candidates must, at a minimum, be confirmed at the rank of Superintendent or Inspector.
