EXPERIENCED POLICE CONSTABLE

The Woodstock Police Force is committed to providing professional, community-focused policing that enhances public safety, builds public trust, and improves the quality of life for all residents. Police Constables play a vital role in protecting life and property, enforcing the law, responding to emergencies, and serving the community with integrity, fairness, and compassion.
This is an exciting and transformative time to join the Woodstock Police Force. Through the recent municipal amalgamation and policing realignment, the Force's policing responsibilities will be expanded significantly from approximately 15 square kilometres to more than 500 square kilometres, creating one of the most substantial changes in the organization's history. This expanded service area encompasses diverse urban, suburban, and rural communities, requiring innovative policing strategies, enhanced collaboration, and a strong commitment to community engagement.
The addition of experienced Police Constables is essential to supporting this organizational growth and ensuring the continued delivery of effective, responsive, and proactive policing across the newly amalgamated wards. Successful candidates will demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism, adaptability, and accountability while working collaboratively with community partners, supporting victims and vulnerable persons, and upholding the values and standards of modern municipal policing. Qualifications / Required Skills

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
• Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
• Graduation from a recognized Canadian Police Training Academy.
• The incumbent must meet departmental medical and physical standards, obtain security clearance, and qualify for appointment as a Police Officer in accordance with the New Brunswick Police Act, Regulation 91-498.
• Have served a minimum of three years with an approved Canadian police agency, including the completion of basic training. Additionally, the applicant must not have been away from a sworn police officer position for more than two continuous years.
• Be in good standing with a Canadian federal, provincial, municipal or First Nations police service whose training and minimum standards are equivalent to that of the WPF. Excludes: Military Police, Sheriffs, Highway Patrol, Corrections, Bylaw, CBSA, and Rail Police (CPKC Police and CN Rail)

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
• Communicate with individuals and groups to prevent and detect criminal activities and address various crime prevention initiatives and respond to quality of life concerns.
• Solve problems related to crime causation, community concerns and issues, prevention, protection and court action.
• Crisis Intervention for conflict crisis, personal crisis, man-made and natural disasters.
• Document and record information on activities for analysis research, legal and court requirements.
• Manage information by entering, and analyzing information for problem solving, research and investigative purposes.
• Educator/Teacher of crime prevention, security, safety, knowledge, information, and skills for individuals and groups in the community.
• Conduct investigations, collect evidence, and prepare files for submission to court.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
Knowledge of and compliance with relevant legislation (Criminal Code of Canada, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Canada Evidence Act, Provincial Motor Vehicle, Liquor, Police, Mental Health)

Skills - communication (interviewing), police vehicle operation, defense and control tactics, fitness (PARE), firearms, basic computer knowledge (CPIC), radar, Breathalyzer (SL2), dispute (domestic) conflict intervention, documents (notes, reports, forms) incidents, non-complex investigations gather evidence and recognize procedures for complex/major investigations and takes appropriate step/procedures, crisis intervention.
