Job Description / Duties
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Leadership & Supervision
• Promote a professional, ethical, and inclusive workplace.
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate staff.
Operational Oversight
• Manage daily police operations within the assigned division.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
• Monitor performance and recommend operational improvements.
Community Relations
• Build positive relationships with residents, community partners, and other policing agencies.
• Represent WPF at meetings, public events, and inter-agency initiatives.
Resource Management
• Oversee staffing, scheduling, and performance management.
• Assist in budget planning and resource allocation.
• Ensure accurate reporting and documentation.
Qualifications / Required Skills
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in police science, public administration, criminology and/or a related field or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
• A minimum of seven to ten (7-10) years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience
• Three to five (3-5) years of supervisory responsibility with a proven ability to lead teams, manage operations, and handle complex investigations. Preference will be given to those candidates with previous Police Inspector experience.
• Continued professional development, education, and training relevant to modern (police) leadership principles and practices.
• Graduation from a recognized police training institute as approved by the Minister of Justice and Public Safety with a certificate in Police Science.
• Certification/re-certification of firearms qualifications
• Current First Aid and CPR techniques/certification or willingness to obtain and maintain required certifications
• Possess a valid and unrestricted driver’s license
• Must meet specific qualification regulations and background checks as outlined in the provincial standards
• In accordance with applicable legislation and policing standards, proof of acceptable eligibility status to work in Canada with the ability to obtain security clearance are required prior to appointment
• Proven experience in Crisis Intervention
• Proven experience in Major Crime Investigations

Police Station office hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

The addition of this new Police Inspector position is critical to the ongoing realignment and coordination of policing services within our amalgamated wards. The Police Inspector will be an integral part of the Woodstock Police Force and requires previous experience in a policing leadership role. The successful candidate must demonstrate a high level of professionalism, integrity, tact, judgement, and initiative. They will be expected to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Town staff, media, and other outside agencies.
As a member of the Woodstock Police Force Senior Management Team, the Police Inspector will exemplify the mission and core values of the Woodstock Police Force (WPF). They will ensure that day-to-day activities of the department align with the strategic vision and meet public safety objectives. The Inspector will be responsible for supervising direct reports, implementing departmental policies, and overseeing critical operations related to crime prevention, investigation, and law enforcement within their designated unit or division.
