Position Overview

We are looking for a Sales Engineer, Security & Data Center Infrastructure to support our sales organization in a hybrid pre-sales and post-sales capacity. In this role, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor, helping public and private sector customers design secure, resilient, and practical technology solutions across the enterprise data center stack, including compute, storage, networking, virtualization, cloud, and security. You will work closely with Account Executives throughout the sales cycle and remain engaged after implementation to help ensure successful outcomes and long-term customer relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery sessions with customer stakeholders to understand current environments, requirements, constraints, and risk posture

• Design and propose end-to-end solutions spanning compute, storage, networking, and security layers that align with customer objectives, budgets, and operational maturity

• Deliver technical presentations, whiteboard sessions, and product demonstrations for technical and executive audiences

• Design and lead proof-of-concept (PoC) and proof-of-value (PoV) engagements and validate outcomes against customer requirements

• Respond to RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs with technically sound and competitively positioned solutions

• Develop security-focused solution components, including threat models, compliance mappings, zero-trust architecture recommendations, and data protection strategies

• Partner with Account Executives to build account strategies, qualify opportunities, and identify technical champions within customer organizations

• Engage partner vendors and leverage their expertise where appropriate

• In some cases, implement sold solutions, including potential data and application migrations

• Maintain long-term customer relationships as a trusted advisor

• Obtain partner vendor certifications to expand technical knowledge and meet business requirements

• Stay current on evolving security threats, emerging data center technologies, and industry or regulatory trends

• Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and customer briefings

• Mentor junior sales engineers and contribute to internal enablement content, playbooks, and best practices

• Perform other duties as required within the context of the role

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, or a related field, or 10+ years of progressive hands-on enterprise security experience in lieu of a degree

• 5+ years of experience in enterprise IT, infrastructure, or security roles, including meaningful experience in pre-sales, sales engineering, solutions architecture, or consulting

• Deep expertise across enterprise security domains, including: • Network security, including firewalls, segmentation, IDS/IPS, and zero-trust network access • Identity and access management, including IAM, PAM, MFA, and SSO • Data protection and encryption, including key management • Endpoint and workload security • Security operations, SIEM/SOAR concepts, and incident response fundamentals • Compliance and regulatory frameworks such as NIST, FedRAMP, CMMC, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, and ISO 27001

• Working knowledge of the full enterprise data center stack, including: • Compute platforms and virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, and KVM • Storage technologies including SAN, NAS, block, file, and object storage, backup, and disaster recovery • Networking technologies including switching, routing, SD-WAN, and load balancing • Data center facilities concepts including power, cooling, and redundancy models • Public and hybrid cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP, and cloud-to-on-premises integration patterns

• Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences

• Experience responding to formal procurement processes, including RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs, particularly within public sector or regulated industries

• Excellent presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills

• Relevant industry certifications strongly preferred, including CISSP, CISM, Security+, or vendor-specific security certifications from organizations such as Palo Alto Networks, Cisco, or Fortinet

• Prior experience supporting public sector customers alongside private enterprise customers preferred

• Existing professional network within enterprise security or infrastructure communities preferred

• Experience mentoring or leading a technical pre-sales team preferred

Additional Requirements

• Ability to function effectively in both pre-sales and post-sales engagements

• Ability to build trusted relationships with customers and internal stakeholders
