Summary:
Calian is seeking Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) to support the First Responders Health Program through participant intake, occupational health screening, spirometry, hearing and vision testing, clinical documentation, and clinic coordination. Working alongside Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Physicians, and Laboratory Technicians, the RPN helps ensure efficient, high-quality occupational health assessments for firefighters and first responders.
Responsibilities
- Prepare clinic rooms and equipment before scheduled clinics.
- Verify participant identity, consent, and intake documentation.
- Conduct and document:
- Review health questionnaires and update participant information.
- Educate participants on clinic processes and preventive health practices.
- Coordinate participant movement throughout clinic operations.
- Maintain accurate electronic documentation.
- Support quality assurance initiatives and referral tracking.
- Collaborate with clinicians to maintain efficient clinic workflow.
Qualifications
Required
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as an RPN
- Diploma in Practical Nursing
- Current CPR certification
- Minimum 1–2 years of clinical nursing experience
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Experience using electronic medical records
Preferred
- Occupational health experience
- Spirometry experience
- Hearing screening experience
- Emergency or urgent care experience
- Public health or preventative medicine experience
- Experience supporting firefighters or first responders
Additional Requirements
- Ability to travel to various clinic locations.
- Excellent participant service skills.
- Strong documentation accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary clinical team.
Compensation:
$30.00 – $40.00 per hour
