Position Overview
As a Dental Policy Analyst, you will join the Directorate of Dental Services (D Dent Svcs) within the Policy and Programs section—an integral team responsible for shaping the direction of dental care, standards, and programs across the Canadian Armed Forces.
This role sits at the intersection of clinical dentistry, policy development, research, and national health strategy. You’ll help ensure CAF dental programs remain modern, evidence-based, and aligned with national and international best practices. From dental fitness standards to clinical guidelines and Spectrum of Care reviews, your expertise guides decisions that directly influence CAF operations and member deployability.
This is an ideal position for an experienced dentist looking to expand their career into leadership, policy, and program development while still staying connected to the profession.
Responsibilities
- Review, update, and develop Canadian Forces Dental Orders and clinical practice guidelines
- Lead research reviews and evaluate dental literature to inform evidence-based policies and standards
- Shape and support national dental fitness standards, helping define deployability criteria
- Update and improve the Canadian Forces Dental Care Plan
- Provide expert guidance to the RCDC National Practice Leader, specialist Clinical Practice Leaders, and CAF leadership
- Collaborate with external organizations, including provincial regulators, professional associations, dental institutions, and Allied Forces dental authorities
- Participate in RCDC Clinical Council meetings several times per year
- Produce strategic reports, analyses, and risk communications that inform policy and executive decision-making
Mandatory Qualifications
- Dental degree from an accredited program
- National Dental Examining Board of Canada (NDEB) Certification
- Minimum 3 years of clinical experience
- Experience reading, interpreting, or drafting policy
Additional Requirements Considered as Assets:
- Postgraduate training (Master’s degree, Fellowship, or Diplomate status) an asset
- Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in an RCDC clinic an asset
- Experience working with CAF dental policy, ideally at the directorate level an asset
You will be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level
