Position Overview
As part of the Infrastructure Management team, the Network Infrastructure Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, and support of Calian’s network infrastructure systems. This includes enterprise Wi-Fi, firewall, routing, switching, policy enforcement, and automation across site, data center, and cloud environments. The role requires deep expertise in Fortinet, Cisco Meraki, and Zscaler technologies to ensure secure, high-performance connectivity for both internet and private networks.
The successful candidate will collaborate across Calian Information Technology (IT) and business unit development teams by managing secure network connectivity, optimizing firewall and SD-WAN configurations, and maintaining high availability and disaster recovery capabilities. This position requires a proactive approach to network monitoring, incident resolution, and continuous improvement of network infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage enterprise Wi-Fi infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and coverage across all environments.
- Administer and optimize Fortinet firewalls (FortiGate), VPNs, security policies, and FortiManager configurations.
- Manage and maintain Cisco Meraki infrastructure including switches, wireless access points, and security appliances.
- Administer and support Zscaler cloud security services for secure internet and private connectivity.
- Design and enforce enterprise-wide network policies, including firewall rules, access controls, and compliance standards.
- Monitor and optimize network performance, capacity, and security across hybrid environments.
- Implement and maintain network redundancy and disaster recovery solutions.
- Integrate and support on-premises and cloud-based network services (Azure, AWS).
- Implement network automation and monitoring tools (e.g., FortiManager, Meraki Dashboard, SNMP).
- Collaborate with security teams to enforce network security best practices and compliance.
Qualifications
- College diploma or university degree in computer science or 3+ years of related experience.
- 3+ years of experience with enterprise networking, including routing, switching, and firewalls.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Fortinet technologies (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer).
- 3+ years of experience managing Cisco Meraki networks.
- Experience with Zscaler cloud security services.
- Strong understanding of network security, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, SD-WAN, VPN, and the OSI model.
- Experience with cloud networking (Azure, AWS) and hybrid connectivity.
Additional Requirements
- Candidate must be able to work onsite in Ottawa; candidates onsite in Saskatoon will also be considered.
- Candidates must be capable of performing physical tasks related to network infrastructure setup and maintenance, including lifting, moving, and installing hardware such as firewalls, switches, and access points.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
