Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance Manager, to join our finance team. This role (working Mountain Time hours) is part of AMS (Advanced Medical Solutions), Calian’s newest acquisition, and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a growing organization.
You will support the finance department in streamlining invoicing processes, managing timecards, handling prepaid travel, overseeing the budgeting process, and improving month-end close procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience with financial systems, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the VP, Finance & Administration you will:
- Lead the financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Provide insightful variance analysis and commentary to leadership on business performance.
- Assist with the month-end close process and reconciling prepaid expenses, credit card statements, capital assets, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, and loans.
- Preparing monthly supporting schedules and working papers.
- Reviewing and interpreting customer contracts to ensure the accurate and timely generation of invoices.
- Ensuring accruals of expenses and revenues are recognized appropriately and ensuring cut-off procedures.
- Overseeing the submission and processing of expense reports while ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Identify opportunities to automate expense report process to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency.
- Address any issues related to missing receipts or incomplete submissions in an efficient and timely manner.
- Addressing any discrepancies in a timely manner to support a period-end close process within 7 business days.
- Managing the prepaid travel account, including coding travel invoices and performing weekly data dumps for reconciliation.
- Collaborate with the Finance team and IT team to optimize use of financial systems, including UKG and Sage 50.
- Assist with any systems integrations or transitions, including but not limited to designing, testing, and training.
- Identifying opportunities to improve any processes or controls to help improve accuracy, timeliness, completeness, and validity.
- Supporting other ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Having, or close to obtaining, CPA designation.
- Experience: Minimum 7+ years of experience in a finance, accounting role with a focus on FP&A, revenue recognition, and month-end close process.
- Technical Skills: Advanced Excel skills and experience with data analysis and reporting tools.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to identify process inefficiencies and implement improvements.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Self-Management: Ability to self-motivate and self-manage effectively given that this role would be remote.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing financial data and processes.
- Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
Additional Requirements
- Experience in assessing the financial results of the company to bring valuable insights to management.
- Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Nice to have: Previous experience working with government contracts and Sage 50 experience.
