Position Overview
Calian Operational and Training Technologies Solutions (COTTS), is seeking an Intermediate DevOps Developer to join our dynamic DevOps team. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining and enhancing our CI/CD pipelines that support mission-critical, military-related software applications. You’ll collaborate closely with developers and fellow DevOps engineers to resolve issues related to Git, GitLab, and Maven, ensuring smooth integration and delivery processes.

A strong foundation in Java programming is essential, as you’ll frequently engage with software developers to troubleshoot and support application builds and deployments.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with DevOps team members to manage build system dependencies and address technical debt
- Maintain and optimize the Maven build lifecycle
- Manage and maintain code repositories
- Support developers with Git-related issues, including branching, merging, and version control best practices
- Document DevOps workflows, processes, and best practices to ensure team alignment and knowledge sharing
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma from a Canadian post-secondary institution in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Proficient in using Maven for project management and build automation
- Experienced with plugin and dependency management
- Skilled in creating and maintaining POM files
- Strong understanding of Java and object-oriented programming principles
- Familiar with class loading mechanisms
- Experience with testing frameworks such as Junit
- Hands-on experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment tools such as Jenkins and GitLab
- Proficient in using Git for version control
- Understanding of branching strategies and merge conflict resolution
Nice to Have Skills
- Familiarity with Docker and Ansible for containerization and configuration management
- Experience setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in GitLab
- Knowledge of logging frameworks such as Logback or Log4j
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to work on site
- You will be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance
