Position Overview
The IT Technician Entry Level will report directly to the Lead IT Technician to support day-to-day IT operations at our satellite teleport facility. This role is ideal for someone starting their IT career with a strong interest in networking, systems support, and hands-on troubleshooting in a mission-critical environment. The technician will assist in maintaining the site’s IT infrastructure, including desktops, servers, and network hardware, ensuring continuous support for teleport operations.
Responsibilities
- Provide first-level support for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain PCs, laptops, printers, and other peripheral devices.
- Assist with the setup, monitoring, and maintenance of LAN/WAN infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues and escalate when necessary.
- Support basic server maintenance tasks (Windows/Linux environments).
- Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, procedures, and IT assets.
- Assist teleport engineering staff with IT-related integration of RF/telecom systems.
- Respond to IT support tickets in a timely and professional manner.
- Follow all security, safety, and operational protocols.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field or 2-4 years’ experience in IT field.
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and switching/routing concepts.
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot common hardware/software issues.
- Willingness to work in a physical/technical environment, including server rooms and outdoor equipment enclosures.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn.
Preferred
- Hands-on experience in network administration or tech support.
- Basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Bash).
- IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or CCNA.
- Exposure to satellite, RF, or telecom environments.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work around RF equipment.
- Requires occasional evening/weekend support depending on operational needs.
