Position Overview

Calian is seeking a Senior Professional Engineer to assist our client with conducting research and analysis, to assess and evaluate technical solutions and to develop and propose tailored business processes.

Responsibilities

  • Application of the logistics engineering methodology to activities related to DAVPM projects
  • Review and critique Contract Deliverable Requirement List (CDRL) and project requirements to ensure they align with current logistics engineering practices and the over-all strategy
  • Attend, as required, internal DAVPM meetings to provide regular logistics engineering insight
  • Attend, as required, meetings with internal and external stakeholders, as directed by the TA, in support of Crown donation projects of military equipment to foreign nations
  • Provide project management, business acumen and engineering insight and advice to the TA on Crown donation projects of military equipment to foreign nations
  • Provide engineering input and make recommendations on project waivers and deviations
  • Develop and recommend engineering process flows
  • Develop and recommend software acquisition guidelines and software lifecycle management process flows and procedures
  • Provide insight and recommendations on anticipated business outcomes and efficiencies related to the implementation of software acquisition guidelines and software lifecycle management process flows and procedures, including (but not limited to) assessments of benefits to key lines of business
  • Provide insight and advice on change management considerations related to implementation strategies for software acquisition guidelines and software lifecycle management process flows and procedures
  • Conduct engineering investigations and make recommendations on any areas of concern involving the Program
  • Draft, or contribute to the development of, technical documentation such as (but not limited to) SOWs, Engineering Change Proposals, etc.
  • Draft, or contribute to the development of, disposal plans and demilitarization instructions
  • Develop, contribute to, and coordinate project Transition Plans
  • Apply appropriate DND Security Orders and Regulations to all aspects of the work

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid Secret (Level II), or higher, Clearance with the Government of Canada
  • Must have an Engineering post-secondary degree
  • Must have 10 years of experience in logistics engineering of Military Standard (MIL-STD) 1388 1A (Logistic Support Analysis) including Development of the TA Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) process flow; Training course development as an instructor and/or manager; The identification, development, validation and scaling of Special Tools and Test Equipment (STTE); The development, review, production and publishing of Technical Orders; and Management and tracking of spare procurement, including all industry standard processes from provisioning to delivery
  • Must have 10 years of experience producing correspondence and briefs to support decision making for senior project staff including: The drafting/review of Statements of Work (SOW); Generation of an ILS Implementation Plan; Generation of an ILS Transition Plan; Review and assessment of an ILS Project; Contract Deliverables Requirement List (CDRL); Review and assessment of project waivers and deviations; Review and assessment of project Contract Change Proposals (CCP); and Review and critique any software management correspondence
  • PMP would be considered as asset
  • P.Eng would be considered an asset
  • Experience in the demilitarization and disposal of military equipment within the context of Controlled Technology and Transfer (CTAT) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) regulations would be considered an asset
  • Experience performing Engineering Services on a Major Crown Project(s) / Capital Project(s), or private-sector equivalent, with a minimum budget of $100M would be considered an asset
  • Experience working on Crown projects to donate military vehicles or equipment to foreign nations would be considered an asset
  • A Masters Degree in Engineering, a Masters Degree in Software Engineering, or a Masters Degree in Business Administration would be considered an asset
