Position Overview

Join our Payroll team as a Payroll Specialist, responsible for end-to-end payroll processing. If you excel in a fast-paced environment and enjoy handling payroll tasks from start to finish, we want you!

Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end payroll processing:Handle the complete payroll cycle for Calian employees, including processing pay, leave, and entitlements accurately and on time.
  • Prepare and submit remittances:Handle the preparation and submission of remittances, including deductions, health benefits, WSIB/WCB, and ROEs, to government agencies and other organizations.
  • Assist with system updates and compliance:Support updates and improvements to the payroll system, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and policies.
  • Handle payroll inquiries:Identify and respond to payroll inquiries, resolving discrepancies promptly and maintaining positive relationships with employees.
  • Special payroll runs:Prepare and execute special payroll runs as needed, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Contribute to process improvements:Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within the SAP payroll system to enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate during audits:Follow policies and collaborate with auditors during annual audits to ensure compliance and accuracy of payroll practices.
  • Ensure compliance:Ensure that Calian’s payroll practices adhere to all relevant CRA and Provincial government regulations.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in end-to-end payroll processing.
  • Proficiency in SAP and strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation.
  • Possession of or active progress towards a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Additional Requirements

  • Canadian Government Reliability Status level clearance required.
