About the role

We are looking to hire a Flight Simulator engineering apprentice to join our team and develop themselves to become a Flight Simulator Engineer, part of a team responsible for the ongoing Maintenance of our flight simulators at our Abu Dhabi operation. In this role you will perform routine Flight Simulator Training Device (FSTD) support technical tasks, under supervision from FSTD Support Engineer. You will receive training on the various aspects of FSTD Support technical work. You will be working alongside a large team of engineers to ensure that all Training Devices are maintained as per their qualification standard and in line with quality guidelines and procedures. In addition to the defined job functions, may also be required to carry out other duties that may be reasonably required for the smooth operation of the Training Center Operation (TCOPS).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Complete the On-the-Job Training (OJT) Program under the mentorship of an assigned FSTD Support Engineer or Technician.

  • Acquire basic familiarity and knowledge on all aspects of FSTD support technical work with a focus on the completion of routine activities, such as the Preventive Maintenance Tasks (PMTs), Daily Readiness (DR), & Aircraft Database updates on the various training devices in the operation.

  • After completing the OJT program, perform Preventive Maintenance Tasks (PMTs), Daily Readiness (DR), Recurrent QTG runs, Aircraft Database updates, & IOS Lesson Plan (LP) updates on the training devices & associated systems. The more complex PMTs & QTGs are performed under the supervision of a FSTD Support Generalist. Keep the associated records up to date. Action deficiencies associated with these tasks.

  • Accountable to maintain, keep track, and request consumable items and tools required to perform the Preventive Maintenance Tasks and Daily Readiness.

  • After completing the OJT program, perform low level troubleshooting of issues on the training devices, using schematics, and aircraft/device system documentation.

  • Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System to record, track, review, & update deficiencies & maintenance activities.

  • Support logistics duties, including yearly inventories, re-arrangement of stores, packing and preparation for shipping, etc… Perform housekeeping and administrative functions, or other tasks as reasonably required.

  • Comply with local & global CAE Environmental Health & Safety standards, instructions, and safe working procedures. Exercise duty of care for own H&S, and that of others who may be affected by his/her work.

About you

  • Must hold a Technical College Diploma or Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Electro-Mechanical or Aeronautical/Aerospace Field.

  • Candidate must have existing rights to work in the UAE or have the pre-requisites to qualify for a work visa in the UAE.

  • Good knowledge of the English Language, both spoken and written.

  • Able to work flexible shifts (including Night shift) and adapt to changing work schedules and shift patterns.

  • Basic understanding of Electro-Mechanical Terminology.

  • Able to interpret schematics and other technical documents pertaining to Electro-Mechanical systems.

  • Basic computer skills with knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, etc…)

  • Basic knowledge of computer networking.
