Summary

The IFT-R Chief Pilot will work directly for the Program Manager and be responsible for directing live flight and simulator operations associated with student pilot training in the Bell 505 helicopter in support of the contract task order. The Chief Pilot will be the Subject Matter Expert for all instruction provided under the existing syllabus of instruction (e.g., aircraft, classroom, simulator, or practical environments as required, curriculum/courseware development). The Chief Pilot must understand the Federal Aviation Administration Part 61 and 91 flight instruction criteria. The Chief Pilot will perform quality assurance, end-of-phase, IP annual checkrides, and fill in as needed to backfill IP absences. The Chief Pilot will ensure the standardization of all cadre members. The Chief Pilot will maintain all personnel flight records and make available for government and innate QA inspections. The Chief Pilot will ensure a safe and secure work environment and that all cadre members follow the applicable SOP and regulatory guidance. The Chief Pilot will function as the Deputy Program Manager in the Program Manager’s absence.

  • Direct live flight, simulator, and academic training.
  • Perform duties as Instructor Pilot and conduct training development as required.
  • Perform IFT-R program Quality Assurance duties as required.
  • Interface with appropriate program members, customers, external organizations, and CAE USA staff to proactively identify and address issues that will hinder successful mission completion.
  • Interface with various departments, management, and staff to identify and execute process improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct business in strict compliance with all corporate policies and procedures and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Serve as the Deputy Program Manager as required.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

·Minimum 3000 hours total time (of which 2500 hours minimum in rotary-wing aircraft).

·Minimum of 1000 hours of dual instruction given.

·FAA Commercial/Instrument Rotary Pilot’s License.

·FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) including Instrument Rotary-Wing (CFII).

  • Must currently hold the above ratings in all these categories or be able to obtain such by the hire date.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an FAA Class II Flight Medical Certificate.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

·Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Word.

  • Must be able to deliver oral presentations to management and customers effectively.
  • Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.
  • Must be willing to work any shift or day of the week as required.
  • Understanding of military protocols, and customs and courtesies is essential.
  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • FAA Commercial Rotary Pilot’s License rating and Certificated Flight Instructor/Instrument Rotary, or can readily obtain through a military competency process with the FAA.

Security Responsibilities

Must comply with all company security and data protection/usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for properly marking and handling all information and materials in any form. Shall not divulge any information or afford access to other employees who do not have a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside the company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically in company-provided resources.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

·Domestic and international travel as required.

·Must be able to walk and/or climb stairs and ladder into a simulator or airplane cockpit.

·Must be able to stoop, bend, and crawl on top of or under machinery.

·Must be able to detect odors or hear noises, bangs, etc., or other sounds to detect problems or flaws in the functioning of simulators and their surrounding environment.

·Work in a regular office environment; communicate via a personal computer, telephone, and fax.

·Will be working in areas with a risk of electrical shock from moving mechanical parts driven by hydraulics under high pressure.

·Will, at times, be exposed to the following conditions: extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises.
