About This Role

Do you have an innovative mindset? Are you following the latest trends in technology? Do you possess the ability to enable a team of like-minded individuals to collaborate and determine the best way forward? Then you may be the right person to manage the Courseware Technology and Innovation team to utilize the proper technology and tools to disrupt the courseware development process and find efficiencies that will engage our future students.

In this position, you will be managing a team of forward-thinking, innovative people to determine the right solutions to solve courseware development problems and lead us to successfully executing large and complex programs on time and on budget.

This will include people management of the Innovation and Technology team and providing guidance to the Technical Leads of the department. Working closely with the Sr Manager of the Courseware Technology and Innovation team, you will help determine the technology strategy, tools and processes required to ensure success. You will work with other Technology Managers within the company to align on strategy and tools, and the Courseware Development Managers to understand the problem areas where innovation and technology can be introduced for efficiencies. You will inspire and empower the team to be the best collaborative team they can be!

Description:

  • Full accountability for technology and innovation strategy for department.
  • Manage a multi-disciplinary team (programmers, courseware developers, multimedia developers).
  • Resource management (staffing requirement to meet commitments, as well as performance review, development plan).
  • Main contributor on the training solution and courseware innovation strategic vision and roadmap, in coordination with other managers and personnel within and outside of the department.
  • Identifying, reviewing, tracking, reporting, and participating in R&D and prototyping activities.
  • Building R&D business cases for funding of prototypes and identifying and reporting value earned.
  • Supporting the continued implementation of the technical track, coordinating with technical lead and assessors.
  • Supporting proposals as required.
  • Coordinating with other personnel to ensure the application of learning science and instructional design best practices in our solutions.
  • Coordinating with other technology and innovation groups to ensure relevancy, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Working with project teams to understand pain points that need to be addressed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, education or equivalent.
  • 8 or more years' relevant experience in the training/courseware field.
  • Previous experience in project/product management.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to lead several employees and carry out several tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and great team spirit.
  • Thorough knowledge of courseware project lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of development lifecycle processes.

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of Agile development practices.
  • Experience with JIRA.
  • Knowledge and experience in software integration and/or software testing.
  • Experience in proposal writing.
  • Experience and/or interest in training design and learning science.
