About This Role

SUMMARY

Perform point-to-point wiring of cabinets, chassis, panels, card files, cables, and trainer systems wiring. Responsible for all wiring on board and off board, setting up cabinets on raised floors. Assist with Simulator Mechanics to build trainer when needed and trouble shoot problems with simulator techs. Assist in Loading and unloading trucks for trips.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ability to read work orders, follow production and sample assemblies, diagrams, wire lists or verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.

• Assist with the selection of wires, specific colors, marking or length and looping wires between guide pegs on harness board and follow color-coded lines or sequence numbers on board or diagram.

• Assist with wire measurements, cutting, and wire marker installations and wire terminations in accordance with the wire list and workmanship standards.

• Assist with wire installations in cabinets, card files, and trainer system wiring.

• Ability to learn and become skilled in performing error free lug and contact pin crimping operations.

• Learn and gain proficiency in the fabrication of complete cable assemblies per wire lists.

• Assist with connecting component lead wires to printed circuit assemblies or route and connect wires between individual component leads and other components, connectors, terminals and contact points.

• Perform wire continuity verification using continuity tester.

• Learn and gain proficiency with creation and application of wire or harness identification labels.

• Assist with work assignments from trainer system hardware logs.

• Assist with the selection and installation of cable harnesses and cable clamps.

• Cable tie harnesses and assists with wire routing, lacing and layout.

• Must have basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical hand tools and be able to effectively use them (wire strippers - manual and pneumatic, crimpers - manual and pneumatic, hand cutters, heat gun, insertion and extraction tools, hot air sleeve solder gun, soldering iron, wire wrap tool, continuity tester, tape measure, ribbon cable connector assembly tool, etc.).

• Basic understanding of military and commercial workmanship standards

• Must be willing and able to assume work assignments away from the facility for extended periods for site installations and be willing to work rotating shifts. • Aptitude for learning how to work from wire lists, assembly drawings, schematics, engineering orders, engineering change orders, engineering logs, workmanship standards and manufacturing procedures / work instructions.

• Basic computer skills are required for time reporting and work order processing.

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. • Ability to write simple correspondence.

• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations with other employees of the organization.

• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.

• Ability to perform work assignments with minimal supervision.

• Must have a good knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical hand tools and be able to effectively use them (Hammers, wrenches, screw drivers, pliers, drills, and saws

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or general education degree.

• One year certificate from college or technical school; equivalent combination of education and experience

• Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in wire installation and termination

• Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in soldering

Security Responsibilities

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds over 2/3 of the time.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds 1/3 to none of the time.

• Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less, Jaeger 1 of .50 mm letters @ 14” or better).

• Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more, Snellen Chart 20/50, or better). • Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors).

• Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).

• Must be able to travel CONUS and to international sites
