Location:
On-site in Lynchburg, Virginia
Your Day to Day at BWXT:
- Operation of plant machinery
- Non-destructive testing or destructive testing equipment
- Work with chemical solutions (consisting of acids, bases and organics) and modify of form material
- Work through glove box type enclosures and/or ventilated hoods
- Handle various types of material per approved procedures
- Will be responsible for maintaining production and quality records and perform routine maintenance as required
Required Qualifications:
- HS Diploma or GED is required.
- (3) years of manufacturing; OR (2) years of manufacturing and (1) year of college (or formal education); OR(1) year of manufacturing and (2) years of college (or formal education); OR a 4-year Bachelor's Degree;OR (5) years of general work experience.
- Must be able to obtain Work Keys scores that are required for this position.
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and work in a confined space.
- Manufacturing Technician Level 1 Certification (MT1) preferred.
- Working knowledge of hand tools and light power tools is desirable.
- Candidate will be required to perform simple math (addition and subtraction) involving decimals.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain respirator qualification.
- Candidate shall be able to demonstrate strict adherence to operational, safety and criticality procedures.
- Majority of work is performed in a standing position.
- Required to climb ladders and steps without restrictions.
- Maintains area cleanliness as directed by area Manager or Lead Operator.
- Will be required to perform maintenance on equipment which they are cognizant for. Thus, good mechanical abilities and a working knowledge of hand tools and light power tools are required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, with no dual citizenship.
