BWXT Canada Ltd. is actively seeking a Quality Records Technician to join our team in Cambridge, Ontario.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring our quality records and documentation meet regulatory standards and BWXT processes. Reporting to the Quality Records Supervisor, you’ll work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders—including customers, suppliers, and the Technical Safety and Standards Association (TSSA)—to support document compliance, history dockets, vendor records, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Records Retention & Verification

  • Oversee the scanning, sorting, and authentication of production orders and weld cards, ensuring accurate and complete documentation.

  • Conduct first and second verifications of records to maintain high-quality standards and regulatory compliance.

  • Review and close Nonconformance Reports (NRs), proactively identifying discrepancies and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.

Production Order & Drawing Management

  • Ensure accurate and timely return of completed production order drawings to the shop floor to support seamless operations.

  • Collect and deliver production orders between the shop floor and office, maintaining proper documentation flow.

  • Verify that production orders and reports are complete, accurate, and properly signed off by customers and authorized inspectors.

  • Ensure all required documentation—such as reworks, PWHT (Post Weld Heat Treatment), and condition reports—is properly completed and filed.

History Dockets & Radiographic Testing (RT) Films

  • Prepare comprehensive history dockets for nuclear projects, including welder and NDE personnel qualifications, materials, and consumables.

  • Ensure all drawings, reports, and materials are properly included and organized within the dockets.

  • Coordinate internal and external transmittals and approvals, including those involving the TSSA.

  • Prepare and transmit RT films in accordance with regulatory and company standards.

Vendor Documentation

  • Review documentation from vendors to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with BWXT’s recordkeeping standards.

  • Maintain and organize vendor documentation in internal databases, ensuring traceability and readiness for audits.

Technical Review & Process Improvement

  • Perform detailed technical reviews of quality records and history dockets to ensure regulatory and customer requirements are met.

  • Identify areas for improvement within quality records processes and help implement solutions that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Act as a technical resource and mentor for junior team members, providing guidance and fostering knowledge development.

  • Encourage a culture of ownership, accuracy, and continuous improvement through peer coaching and knowledge-sharing sessions.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Liaise with internal departments including Engineering, Supply Chain, Document Control, and Quality to coordinate documentation workflows.

  • Communicate with external customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies like the TSSA to resolve documentation issues and ensure alignment with standards.

Qualifications:

  • College diploma in Mechanical or Power Engineering Technology, Quality Assurance, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of relevant experience preferred.

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and CSA N299 quality systems.

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $59,000 and $76,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment.
