We are actively seeking an Engineering Analyst (Junior) to join our team in Cambridge, Ontario.
Engineering Analysis & Qualification is a dynamic group within BWXT Canada that is responsible for ensuring nuclear components and equipment designed, fabricated, and installed by BWXT meet all Code and customer requirements for structural integrity and thermal-hydraulic performance. As an Engineering Analyst, you will use finite element analysis (ANSYS & ABAQUS) and other techniques to ensure ASME Code and customer requirements are met. Structural evaluation includes pressure and mechanical load analysis, transient thermal-stress analysis, and seismic analysis. You will be working within a collaborative and diverse group of highly skilled engineers who will share their knowledge and will assist with your growth in engineering.
The Engineering Analyst is responsible for performing structural qualification of nuclear components, including steam generators, heat exchangers, process vessels and piping assemblies and/or performing thermal-hydraulic analysis of heat exchanger equipment including steam generators and shell-and-tube heat exchangers. Reporting to the Lead Engineer, this role interacts with other Engineering Analysts as well as Project Engineering.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Perform conventional, less complex engineering assignments based on past practices.
- Instruction provided on task specifications and design constraints.
- Work is reviewed for adequacy and conformance with prescribed procedures.
- Analysis and design qualification of nuclear components using finite element analysis or classical closed-form solutions which would include:
- Structural analysis
- Transient thermal analysis
- Heat-transfer analysis
- CFD analysis
- Response spectrum and time-history seismic analysis
- Flow-induced vibration analysis
- Provide input and support to Project Engineering. This includes:
- Provide input to set the design
- Preparation of calculations & reports to qualify the final design
- Evaluating non-conformances as required
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or associated fields with strong background in solid mechanics and/or fluid mechanics.
- Some experience and knowledge of:
- Finite element analysis.
- General purpose FE codes such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, ANSYS CFX, FLUENT, and numerical packages such as MathCAD or Matlab.
- HTRI XIST and RELAP analysis code (would be an asset).
- Nuclear plant functions and ASME Code (would be an asset).
- CSA S16 or equivalent structural codes (would be an asset).
- Programming languages such as FORTRAN, C, C++ or other languages such as python or VBA (would be an asset).
- Proven problem solving and organization skills and ability to develop effective working relationships.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- PEO License or eligible and in process would be an asset.

The base salary range for this position in [[Ontario]] at the start of employment is expected to be between $[[63,000]] and $[[98,000]] per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment.
