We are recruiting for a Development Technician (5 openings) for our facility in Kanata, Ontario. This is 12-month term position.
Location: On-site.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Assists in troubleshooting, custom maintenance and repairs, project activities and research technical support and development. Assembles equipment and runs tests & experiments. Assists in commissioning new processes, products, equipment and facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working within the Development and Process Engineering team, you will:
  • Develop chemical systems, instrumentation and process methods in accordance with cGMP requirements.
  • Assist with the completion of designs in consultation with the science specialist.
  • Source, assemble and test chemical processing equipment.
  • Develop manipulator compatible tooling and fittings.
  • Perform experiments in accordance with established specifications and procedures and gather data for analysis and report results.
  • Commission new processes, products, equipment and facilities.
  • Assist in troubleshooting, custom maintenance and repairs of process equipment and facilities.
  • Provide technical advice as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Normally, a technologist diploma (3-year) plus 3 years of relevant technical experience.
  • Nuclear Energy Worker.
  • Demonstrated capability to write technical documentation.
  • Should be familiar with company organization, practices, policies and procedures and able to read and comprehend drawings, schematics, specifications and technical literature.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Practical experience with optimization of chemical systems would be an asset.
  • Practical experience radiopharmaceutical and/or pharmaceutical manufacturing would be an asset.
  • Practical experience with manufacturing Indium-111 Oxine and/or TheraSphere is an asset.
  • Familiarity with use and test methods of analytical laboratory equipment and nuclear medicine laboratory equipment.
  • Experience working with electronic systems that are 21 CFR part 11 compliant is an asset
  • Experience working with automated computerized systems (i.e. PLC, SCADA, etc.) is an asset
  • Experience with Current Good Manufacturing Practices, including IQ/OQ/PQ
  • Experience working with or formal education of robotics and automated manufacturing equipment would be an asset
  • Proficient with the use and maintenance of spreadsheets
  • Works under general direction and guidance. Decisions are normally made based on interpretation of well-defined policies and precedent.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Have good manual dexterity and grip strength.
  • Push and pull hand carts with a force of up to 25kgs on an occasional basis.
  • Lift up to 5kgs on a frequent basis and 10kgs on an occasional basis.
  • Work with arms/hands on a frequent basis.
  • This position requires the successful completion of a Health & Hygiene medical assessment, vision screening and hearing test as a pre-employment condition.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario (CA-ON) at the start of employment is expected to be between $68,871 and $86,290 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
