We are recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor to join our Cambridge, ON team!

The Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor will lead a team of Manufacturing Engineers and Technical Specialists to: establish and refine manufacturing procedures, prepare and maintain shop documentation conforming to Quality system requirements and assess and resolve non-conforming conductions that affect the product. Support shop including facilities and equipment maintenance, upgrade or installation. Review and approve tooling designs as required to support shop activities and safe work. Ensure upfront tooling and procedures are created on time and on budget to support various projects.

Accountabilities

The Manufacturing Engineering supervisor will support and direct the Manufacturing Engineering team with their tasks including:
Shop Documentation
• Preparing shop routings for each component reflecting the sequence of shop activities, identify shop resources and fixtures/jigs/tooling required for the scope of work, as well as provide material allocation and identification of applicable shop operating procedures and quality assurance standards.
Non-Conforming Products
• Resolve non-conforming conditions identified by Quality Control, assess each case relative to control drawings, specifications, customer expectations and quality standards, produce supplementary documents (i.e. work orders, repair drawings, condition reports, etc.), as well as liaise with appropriate personnel (i.e. sales personnel, suppliers, etc.) to arrive at technically sound and commercially viable resolutions.
Shop Procedures
• Develop and support shop procedures for various activities including Fitting, Welding, Machining, Assembly and Testing.
Scheduling
• Maintain realistic time standards as a target for shop performance and to provide realistic durations for shop schedules, review historical data for past performance for similar parts, as well as conduct time studies.
Data Base Maintenance
• Maintain data base of machine shop tooling, consumables and gauges as well as maintain information (i.e. pictures, sketches, and written instructions), to provide record of past practices.
Product Reviews/Estimating
• Conduct pre-manufacturing product reviews, identify tooling and fixtures needed to support the work to ensure shop is adequately equipped to perform job, as well as make adjustments to design or concept sketches for needed tools, procurement of items, etc. as required.
Tooling/Equipment
• Design and draft tooling as required to support shop activities. This may include design analysis for strength using classical or Finite Element tools. Create rigging plans/sketches for heavy lifts. Assist with procurement of new equipment from vendors.

As the department Supervisor, it is expected that you will take leadership of the largest and mostcomplex projects with limited manager oversight. You will be required to interface with upper management and customers regularly. You will be asked to coach and review work of your personnel. You will interface with the shop and provide training on various processes as required. You will develop new processes from scratch. Additionally, you will prepare fabrication plans and tooling estimates to support new project proposals.

Knowledge and Experience

• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or in an appropriate discipline.
• Higher level degree (masters, PhD) considered an asset.
• P.Eng. -Mechanical or appropriate Engineering field is required.
• 15+ years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic team player with proven clear and succinct written and verbal communication skills.
• Have a solid knowledge of Machine Guarding in accordance with CSA.
• Knowledge and demonstrated application of Statistical Process Control tools and principles.
• Comfortable with common Microsoft Office software applications.
Desired Characteristic:
• Knowledge and demonstrated application of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Experience in the Nuclear industry.
• Experience with AutoCAD 2D and SolidWorks 3D design software (or similar).
• Demonstrated leadership abilities.

The base salary range for this position in [[Ontario]] at the start of employment is expected to be between $[[107,000]] and $[[156,000]] per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
