About the role:

The WATCHMAN Device is a minimally invasive, one-time procedure designed to reduce the risk of strokes that originate in the Left Atrial Appendage. As a core member of the WATCHMAN digital solutions team, the Business Data Architect is responsible for the implementation and oversight of the data management goals, standards, governance, intended use, practices, process, and technologies for WATCHMAN so that data is useful, usable, and insightful. In addition, this role will work with Boston Scientific’s Enterprise Data Architects to coordinate data flows around the Boston Scientific systems, process, and capabilities across the enterprise to ensure optimal value leverage of data. The Business Data Architect must bring the right mix of technical expertise, experience with agile development methodologies, and soft skills anchored in impeccable collaboration, clear communication, and positive culture.

Within the WATCHMAN product portfolio, our digital tools serve multiple external user personas such as patients, referring physicians, administrators, implanters, and nurse coordinators. We also serve internal user personas such as sales associates, customer support representatives, marketing staff, and more. Our goal is to support WATCHMAN in having relevant and accessible data to inform decision making, allow for powerful data visualization, and enable data integration.

Work Mode:
At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows an Onsite work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least four days per week.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Work with WATCHMAN business stakeholders to intake their business processes and associated data flows, analyze and organize their data so that it’s inspected, cleaned, understood, and transformed. Ability to analyze and transform business models into quality data sets.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with a diverse group of business, functional and technical teams.
  • Assist the solutioning team in translating business goals into appropriate solutions while assessing feasibility and optimization of the data portion of the solution.
  • Identify opportunities for business process improvements.
  • Work within the digital solutions team to develop proof of concepts to demonstrate proposed technical solutions.
  • Participate in the development of cost/benefit analyses; drives buy/rent/build analyses.
  • Work with our Technical Solutions Architect and consulting partners to manage our data infrastructure.
  • Establish best-practice data taxonomies, syntax structures, etc., to create a “common language of data” across WATCHMAN and Boston Scientific.
  • Support our exploration into AI/ML technologies.
  • Ensure governance is aligned with regulatory, security and privacy compliance for data assets across WATCHMAN.
  • Work across enterprise architecture groups to communicate the needs of the business in terms of data architecture needs and divisional strategy and help shape enterprise technology roadmap.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Business Administration or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in database development and administration, data governance, data management, and data quality.
  • Understanding of data privacy preservation techniques to ensure individuals’ privacy.
  • Hands on experience with AWS data tools such as Redshift, S3, Lake Formation, Athena, Quicksight, ElasticSearch, or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of data movement technologies.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and rapid prototyping.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Maser's degree in Information Technology or Business Administration or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with various data repositories architectures such as data lake, data warehouse, data mart, virtual data warehouse.
  • Hands-on working knowledge of AWS resources – DevOps, Data storage, Data/Content management engines, data and process flow tool etc.).
  • Knowledge of Data Architecture patterns across industries (such as Financial, Manufacturing, Healthcare etc.
  • Experience in regulated environment.
  • Deep understanding of clouds, data and AI/ML.
  • Good understanding of data models in Salesforce
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills including oral, written, and listening skills.
  • Self-motivated in learning new concepts and willing to share knowledge and skills with other team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, self-directed, action-oriented environment.
  • Well organized and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Advanced analytical and reasoning skills.
  • Proven leadership in partnering with external vendors and business partners on projects.

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com--will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
