Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Manager, Quality Management to execute and support our quality assurance and compliance programs across embedded software development for safety-critical markets including automotive, industrial automation, medical devices, and robotics. This role is essential in ensuring our embedded products meet and exceed stringent functional safety, cybersecurity, and regulatory standards, while driving process excellence and engineering rigor.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in embedded systems, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and safety-critical software development, along with proven hands-on experience with relevant industry standards and modern quality management tools.

General Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor members of the QNX Quality team, fostering a culture of quality excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Execute and maintain the QNX Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring alignment with ISO 9001 and other relevant standards.
  • Lead day-to-day Quality Management operations, ensuring initiatives, audits, and governance activities are planned, executed, tracked, and closed.
  • Translate quality strategy and annual objectives into clear operational plans and priorities in partnership with the Director of Quality.
  • Promote a quality-first mindset across engineering, product, and customer-facing teams, with a focus on embedded software reliability, safety, and security.
  • Collaborate with development and product management to implement quality processes that balance safety, quality, and commercial requirements across diverse industries.
  • Manage and conduct Functional Safety Audits and Confirmation Reviews for embedded software projects.
  • Manage internal and external audits, including ISO 9001:2015 and customer-specific assessments.
  • Develop quality-related responses for RFPs, customer questionnaires, and technical evaluations.
  • Interface with customers on quality and process matters including quality questionnaires and in-person audits.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings related to product lifecycle, quality strategy, and compliance.

Quality Operations & Execution

  • Implement and execute the quality strategy across embedded verticals (automotive, industrial, medical, robotics).
  • Maintain and improve the QMS tailored to embedded software development and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure quality is embedded into every phase of the embedded software lifecycle, from requirements to release.
  • Lead the end-to-end process management lifecycle for QMS and quality-related processes, including definition, approval, deployment, maintenance, and continual improvement.
  • Manage intake, prioritization, and tracking of process and quality change requests.
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) and process improvements based on audits, performance data, and systemic issues.
  • Ensure process changes are risk-assessed, approved, effectively deployed, and supported by appropriate communication and training.
  • Monitor quality metrics and drive corrective actions based on data-driven insights.

Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure compliance with key standards including: ISO 9001, CMMI, ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434, ASPICE, IEC 61508, ISO 13849, IEC 62304, EN 50128, DO-178C.
  • Manage and execute internal audits, gap assessments, and support certification readiness for embedded software platforms; ensuring audits are planned, resourced, and completed.
  • Oversee and lead coordination for external audits and assessments, including readiness activities.
  • Support interactions with regulatory bodies and customers to ensure transparency and trust in safety-critical deployments.
  • Help ensure end-to-end traceability from requirements through design, implementation, testing, and release.
  • Maintain documentation and evidence packages for compliance and audit purposes.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Build effective working relationships with engineering, product, legal, and customer teams to align quality goals with business and technical objectives.
  • Support customer audits, industry forums, and regulatory engagements as needed.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and implement preventive measures.
  • Contribute to the development and coaching of quality champions within engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–8+ years of experience in embedded software quality management, preferably in safety-critical industries.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 26262, IEC 61508, ASPICE, ISO/SAE 21434, and relevant medical or industrial standards.
  • Solid understanding of RTOS, low-level software, hardware-software integration, and real-time constraints.
  • Experience with SDLC, Agile, and DevOps practices adapted for embedded environments.
  • Hands-on experience with quality management tools such as JAMA, JIRA, GitHub, Confluence, and related platforms.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience managing small teams or mentoring individual contributors.

Certifications such as TÜV Functional Safety Engineer, ASPICE Provisional Assessor, ISO Lead Auditor, or ASQ Quality certifications are a plus.

Compensation Hiring Base Salary Range:

$96,000.00 - $135,000.00

Please be advised that the compensation hiring range indicated herein is provided solely as a good-faith estimate of expected base compensation for the position. The actual compensation offered will be determined at the time of hire and is contingent upon multiple factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, demonstrated skills, and results of assessments conducted during the hiring process.
