BlackBerry QNX is seeking an accomplished individual with software development expertise in embedded audio for the full-time role of Principal Audio Systems Software Developer. BlackBerry QNX is a market leader in embedded software for automotive audio systems, with products deployed in over 200 million vehicles worldwide. Our customers include many well-known automakers and Tier 1 suppliers. We develop, integrate, tune and license software libraries for full-duplex echo cancellation and noise reduction for hands-free calling, in-car communications, active noise control, engine sound synthesis, media playback optimization and chimes generation. With our latest product offering, QNX Sound, we are influencing the audio system architectures and features of the software-defined vehicles of the future.
This position involves deployment of audio algorithms across multiple OSs (e.g., QNX OS / Hypervisor, Linux, Android), DSPs (e.g., Qualcomm, Cadence), and audio frameworks, for our various automotive customers. The ideal candidate should be able to effectively communicate with and support our global customers, provide advice on audio system architecture design, and perform software integrations and debugging on development boards and production hardware. A high-level understanding of speech and/or audio algorithms is required.

Responsibilities
- Design and implement real-time audio services on production hardware.
- Port audio algorithms and tuning protocols to different OSs, DSPs, and audio frameworks.
- Provide technical support and advice on audio system architecture design, including aspects such as load balancing, latency, transducers, hardware interfaces, virtualization, networking, and user interfaces.
- Performance analysis and optimizations of signal processing algorithms.
- Maintenance and extension of existing code using C/C++.
- Critical listening to audio quality.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics, or equivalent.
- 10 years or more experience in embedded software development.
- 5 years or more experience with speech and/or audio algorithms.
- Solid C/C++ programming skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem solving and debugging skills.
Additional Assets
- Experience with audio frameworks or interfaces such as AudioReach, Audio Weaver and ALSA.
- Experience programming in QNX or Linux/Android embedded environment.
- Experience leading a team or mentoring colleagues.
- Experience with safety and cybersecurity software development processes in automotive.

$123,750 - $165,000 CAD
