Job Description:

The Front-end Software Development Student will assist with work on BlackBerry Unified Endpoint Security product suite with the focus on front-end web development of UES console features.

The successful individual will work with senior team members' oversight and be part of the larger software development team contributing meaningfully to the production software.

Location: Waterloo or Mississauga, ON

Length of Term: 4 Months

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build, test, maintain, and debug large-scale UI applications using for our UES products

  • Work closely with our UI development team to build clean and reusable front-end components and libraries

  • Learn, contribute, and review the best practices in software architecture and UX designs

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant post-secondary institution

  • A strong desire and ability to quickly learn new technologies

  • Strong experience in JavaScript and building React-based applications

  • Knowledge of the software development life cycle and Agile/Scrum methodologies

  • Experience in testing frameworks, such as Cypress and Jest

  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS

  • Experience in using Git

  • Knowledge of other supporting technologies, such as TypeScript, Redux, and GraphQL

  • Knowledge of revision control software (ex. Git, SVN, GitHub etc) and development lifecycle a plus

  • Experience with test automation tools & frameworks (e.g. Boost) a plus

  • Experience with software configurations, e.g. (ability to read, write and interpret maintainable code (including process related scripts)

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent tasks; learns and contributes to the team and performs well defined tasks

  • Ability to take initiative and work well both individually and as part of a team

  • Strong communication skills and self-motivated
