We are banking at another level.

Choosing BDC as your employer means working in a healthy, inclusive, and skilled workplace that puts forward the best conditions to bring together unique teams where employees are empowered to act. It also means being at the centre of ambitious economic and financial projects to see further and to do things differently, to fuel the success of Canadian entrepreneurs.

Choosing BDC as your employer also means:

  • Flexible and competitive benefits, including an Employee Savings and Investment Plan where BDC matches part of your voluntary contributions, a Defined Benefit Pension Plan, a $750 wellness and health care spending account, to name a few

  • In addition to paid vacation each year, five personal days, sick days as necessary, and our offices are closed from December 25 to January 1

  • A hybrid work model that truly balances work and personal life

  • Opportunities for learning, training and development, and much more...

Are you passionate about supporting entrepreneurs and making a meaningful impact in your community? Join the only bank in Canada dedicated exclusively to entrepreneurs and help drive business success in the Tri-Cities region.

We are looking for a dynamic Account Manager to join our team. This role offers a unique learning experience designed to build the foundational skills and knowledge required to become a successful BDL, with structured support and exposure to BDC’s tools, processes, and client engagement strategies.

In the first 8–10 months of this role, you will not be responsible for managing a client portfolio. Instead, you will engage in immersive, hands-on learning by closely shadowing and collaborating with experienced Commercial Account Managers (BDL). This will include deepening your understanding of BDC’s processes, learning how to structure deals, and building confidence in client engagement. As you progress and demonstrate readiness, you will be set up for success to manage your own portfolio—typically around the 8 to 12-month mark—while continuing to develop new business opportunities and strengthen your network and relationship-building skills.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients and prospects by understanding their business challenges and identifying appropriate BDC solutions.

  • Develop and execute a strategic action plan aligned with Business Centre objectives to grow and retain your client portfolio.

  • Analyze financial statements and business plans to assess risk and structure financing proposals that meet both client needs and BDC standards.

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including underwriting and advisory services, to deliver seamless client experiences.

  • Ensure data integrity and compliance with KYC/AML requirements by maintaining accurate records and completing necessary verifications.

  • Identify cross-functional opportunities and refer clients to other business lines as appropriate.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

  • 1-3 years of experience in commercial or corporate banking, business development, or financial analysis.

  • Strong credit judgment and the ability to analyze complex financial structures and build financial models.

  • Demonstrated success in business development with a disciplined and strategic approach to identifying and following up on opportunities.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • A naturally inquisitive mindset with a strong willingness to learn and immerse yourself in BDC’s tools, processes, and client-centric approach.

  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the Burnaby to Maple Ridge and surrounding areas as needed.

Assets

  • Bilingualism (English/French) or fluency in additional languages.

  • A strong network in the Burnaby to Maple Ridge corridor.
