POSITION OVERVIEW

The Director, Event Marketing and Sponsorships plays a crucial strategic leadership role in driving the company's growth through innovative event management, the consolidation of strong strategic partnerships, and the development of effective donation and sponsorship initiatives. This position requires a comprehensive vision of BDC's business relationships and the ability to lead cross-functional efforts to ensure the creation and execution of high-impact events and initiatives. The incumbent is responsible for enhancing our brand visibility, generating demand for our products and services, and fostering a positive predisposition towards BDC.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Lead the development and planning of national sponsorship programs aligned with the company's brand and business objectives.

  • Develop and implement a national sponsorship strategy supporting regional priorities for BDC events, partner events, and sponsorships, in close collaboration with partners in the Canadian entrepreneurial ecosystem.

  • Identify and leverage strategic sponsorship agreements to increase BDC's awareness and visibility and advise the leadership team on key strategic collaborations to prioritize.

  • Maintain an overview of all events and sponsorship initiatives, providing a holistic perspective on activities and engagements that will maximize BDC's reach in key markets.

  • Oversee robust governance around the company's donation and sponsorship management practices and maintain a 360° view of all partners and organizations we collaborate with.

  • Work closely with other corporate functions, including the internal and external communications team and the executives, to develop and maintain positive community relations.

  • Oversee the planning and execution of results-driven multichannel marketing campaigns that support brand development and lead generation.

  • Work closely with internal experts to effectively implement marketing and activation strategies in the field.

  • Lead and mentor teams of high-performing professionals by fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement to maximize the impact of our initiatives within the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

  • Ensure the optimization of the marketing mix and the alignment of marketing campaigns with other communication initiatives to maximize impact.

  • Oversee the development and negotiation of effective and high-performing sponsorship agreements, standardize practices, and ensure the sharing of results with stakeholders to proactively adjust initiatives.

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of events, partnerships, and sponsorship initiatives.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in communications/marketing, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Experience in the banking or financial sector is an asset.

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing communications, business administration, or a related field.

  • Extensive experience in event management, partnerships, and sponsorships, integrating all elements of the marketing mix.

  • Strategic mindset and demonstrated ability to deliver high-impact projects through experience in developing and negotiating mutually beneficial partnership and sponsorship agreements.

  • Strong ability to build solid business relationships, including interpersonal networking; ability to adapt and communicate with different types of audiences.

  • Excellent judgment, results-oriented, and proven ability to analyze performance and market data to optimize initiatives in a constantly evolving environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead people, develop talent, and maximize team performance.

  • Excellent proficiency in both official languages and demonstrated communication skills in French and English.
