POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the CIO, the Chief Data & AI Officer (CDAIO) is a key member of the Information Technology and BDC Senior Leadership team. The CDAIO is responsible for leading the organization's data and AI Strategy and Execution.

This role is critical in managing data and AI as enterprise assets to continually increase our productivity, exceed client expectations and drive business value. As we roll out the new data platform from our multi-year Data Modernization program, we're ready to industrialize our Data and AI practices, collaboration models, and work methods to maximize business growth, innovation and productivity.

This role requires a combination of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and strong leadership skills. It is a dynamic and fast-paced position that offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the organization.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Collaborate closely with Senior Leadership and the CIO team to develop and evolve our data and AI strategy that meets current and future BDC business needs and generates long-term value. This strategy should encompass people, processes, standards, and technology for data architecture, lifecycle management, sourcing, analytics, and governance, ultimately yielding tangible business value such as enhanced client solutions, business growth, increased productivity, timely data responses, data security, and risk reduction.

  • Lead a team composed of over 80 qualified professionals and consultants.

  • Identify opportunities where data and AI can create new value streams and optimize existing processes.

  • Keep up to date with latest trends and developments in data and AI. As well as foster a culture of learning, continuous improvement and innovation with regards to data and AI.

  • Define clear, measurable goals for data and AI projects that align with the organization’s strategic vision.

  • Own Data and AI governance and strategies throughout BDC, promoting AI, data, and analytics as crucial disciplines, and laying the groundwork for a data-driven organization.

  • Act as a catalyst for Data and AI innovation, generating business insights that benefit clients and the organization. Advise on, advocate, monitor, and govern enterprise data, ensuring usability, availability, and efficiency.

  • Develop and maintain a framework for evaluating and addressing ethical dilemmas in AI to ensure responsible and fair use of technology.

  • Foster collaborative partnerships with Business, Functions and IT leaders, and compliance teams, and other stakeholders to ensure understanding and adoption of the enterprise data and AI roadmap.

  • Champion the BDC Way and demonstrate passion for the organization’s purpose, ambition, and values.

  • Provide leadership, professional development opportunities and guidance to a team of seasoned AI, data and analytics professionals.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science/engineering, data science, information science, or a related field. (Master’s degree an asset)

  • Minimum of ten years of extensive senior leadership experience in Data, Analytics, Enterprise Architecture, and Business Strategy.

  • Demonstrated ability to overcome resistance to change by clearly communicating benefits, showcasing quick wins, and providing comprehensive training and support.

  • Ability to build and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships at all levels of the organization.

  • Proven record leading all aspects, from ideation to adoption, of major programs in data, AI, and BI.

  • Excellent business acumen, ability to simplify complex concepts, and engaging stakeholders’ skills.

  • Broad expertise in areas such as data warehousing, business intelligence, AI, data governance, data architecture.

  • Ability to effectively present complex Data and AI concepts to diverse audiences, including executive board members, ensuring clarity and engagement.

  • Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) and proven ability in oral and written communication.
