About the Avaya Tax Team
Avaya’s tax team is based in the USA (NJ), UK, and India, with an excellent reputation across the organization. The tax team works closely with the controllership team, as well as other core functions. As part of a small & friendly tax team, you will have the ability to ‘make a difference’ and support the business to enable execution of Avaya’s strategic growth plans.
About the Role
This is an integral role, with the key focus on ensuring that Avaya’s legal entities comply with global / OECD transfer pricing requirements
Core responsibilities:
Transfer Pricing- calculation (30%)
• Aggregation of data / inputs required for quarterly run internal transfer pricing model
• As required, update of logic to internal transfer pricing model
• Review of quarterly transfer pricing model and associated outputs
• Review of year end actual legal entity results for compliance with transfer pricing principles
• Review of comparable benchmarks undertaken by third party advisor
• Quarterly preparation of legal entity annual forecast, based on transfer pricing principles
Transfer Pricing – documentation (40%)
• Preparation of Avaya’s OECD global transfer pricing documentation, based on advisor prepared comparables. Including master file and local country reports.
• Review of certain local country transfer pricing reports prepared by external local advisors.
• Preparation of Avaya’s Country by Country Reporting
• Aggregation of data / inputs required for above documentation
Transfer Pricing - advisory (20%)
• Identification and review of legislative and factual changes, related to transfer pricing compliance
• Collaborate with finance, legal, and business teams to ensure accurate and compliant intercompany transactions
• Support for Transfer Pricing related tax audits
• Liaison with external transfer pricing advisors
Other matters (10%)
• Assist with other ad-hoc matters, including; cash tax management, business support, corporate project support.
• Drive efficiency and simplicity into the Avaya’s transfer pricing, including through standardization, simplification, & documentation of processes and utilization of technology
• Liaise with external tax advisors on relevant matters.
About You
The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, demonstrate sound judgment and have the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with people at all levels inside and outside Avaya. The ideal candidate will already have a strong background in international and OECD transfer pricing principles. The candidate also needs to have flexibility in order to have some work time overlap with UK and New Jersey tax team members
Core skills & experience:
• Strong written and oral communication skills – business English is a must
• Organized, analytical and a team player
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
• Ability to prioritize, problem solve, make recommendations and implement solutions
• Transfer Pricing practical and technical tax expertise (2-5+ years of experience preferred)
• Experience with financial modelling and economic analysis
• Experience with automation of transfer pricing processes (a plus)
• College degree in Finance/Accounting related discipline, Chartered Accountant, ADIT, Certified Public Accountant or similar (preferred); Additional years of work experience may be considered in lieu
• Experience with SAP/HFM/Alteryx/ transfer pricing software/tools (a plus)
• Strong understanding of international tax principles, OECD guidelines, and local transfer pricing regulations
