General Scope of Responsibilities:

Responsible for manufacturing functions. Lead manufacturing area to accomplish shift objectives as they pertain to safety, production volume and quality of the product, and to participate in developing these objectives. Provide leadership on the shop floor to ensure high productivity, morale and safety. Ensure that the departments are continuing long-term efforts in the improvement of safety, quality, on-time delivery, productivity, innovation and associate morale.

Specific Responsibilities:

Safety

  • Keep safety at the forefront of all departmental decisions
  • Initiate Accident Investigation process for any safety incident on shift
  • Coordinate required safety training for all direct reports

Scheduling

  • Organize workflow based on daily schedule; daily scheduling of job assignments
  • Identify bottleneck and capacity constraint resources
  • Organize material movement to improve efficiency
  • Working with Maintenance Team, schedule machinery maintenance, as required

Quality/ Problem Solving / Projects

  • Maintain compliance of process control procedures in accordance to ISO and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements
  • Assist in developing and implementation of new processes and procedures
  • Participate in improvement projects as a team leader, team member or facilitator, as required
  • Assist in evaluation of new and modified equipment for optimization and effectiveness
  • Coordinate all project activity as deemed necessary by the Site Leader and Manufacturing Team Leader

Communication / Training

  • Develop and maintain rapport with associates, management and peers
  • Evaluate and communicate the daily information flow regarding safety, quality, on-time delivery, productivity, and morale
  • Communicate all company policies and procedures to associates, as needed
  • Make recommendations and assist in training of manufacturing associates
  • Working with other Production Team Leaders and Human Resources to ensure that appropriate skills are being hired, appropriate trainings being conducted, and if necessary, proper progressive discipline followed; maintain compliance with company policies, rules and regulations

Supervision

  • Responsible for manufacturing and associates-related administrative duties
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of production workers
  • Responsible for organizing all assigned resources to produce products according to the current schedule, and according to the approved quality standard; audit departments on a regular basis to insure that teams are achieving acceptable standards of safety, work performance, housekeeping, quality, on-time delivery, and productivity; if needed, analyze and assist team in implementation of corrective action

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to the Manufacturing Team Leader

Coordination: Work closely with Manufacturing Team Leader, Production Team Leaders and Hourly Team Leaders to achieve goals

Supervision Received:

Assignments are received with instructions as to the overall requirements of the position; work is usually checked upon completion of assignment. Routine work is normally done without technical advice. Guidance and supervision is received for matters outside of routine work

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises the Hourly Team Leaders and all hourly Production Associates

Shift:

This position will be on our 2B shift which runs Wednesday - Friday from 7:00pm - 7:00am and alternating Saturdays.

Salary Range:

$75,000 - 85,000

Desired Education/ Skills:

Education / Experience: Engineering or Technical or Manufacturing Management degree or equivalent experience

Skills:

  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes, production and inventory control techniques, ie. Material planning, master scheduling, and shop floor control
  • Self-starter, highly motivated to deliver results and drive continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge and experience in a variety of LEAN Manufacturing techniques
  • Strong organizational skills; project management an asset
  • Possess strong technical, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to communicate and work with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Previous leadership experience an asset
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft, Enterprise-wise software, and general database management)
  • Safety and quality focused; familiar with Health and Safety, and ISO requirements
  • Ability to work shifts in a 24/7 manufacturing environment

Working Conditions:

Work in conducted in a manufacturing environment. Safety shoes and earplugs are required along with other personal protective equipment. Additional hours may be required as needed.
