Principle Tasks:


In this job position, the experienced optical engineer will be responsible for the design and development of automated test systems to be used during manufacturing. This person will be responsible for all the phases of test system development.

Design Tasks include:

  • Have good knowledge on optical products testing, EDFA or Optical engine.

  • Generate Production Test Concept and Requirements for assigned optical products.

  • Working closely with the R&D, to review the test concept.

  • Working closely with the R&D, to get the test specifications, test commands list.

  • Design and document the optical test diagram required to meet all the test specifications.

Development and Deployment Tasks:

  • Software coding skill,

  • Write the test sequences or scripts.

  • Develop test equipment drivers if need.

  • Ensure that the test system meets the design specifications.

  • Work with contract manufacturer during the test system transfer to the factory.

Sustaining Tasks:

  • Work with the contract manufacturer to resolve any functional test issues that may arise, to be consulted in any technical area in order to resolve any problems with the test systems.

  • Test efficiency and capacity improvement.

  • Test quality and yield rate improvement.

Skills/ Qualifications/ Experience:

General:

  • Qualification – Bachelor degree in Optical Engineering, or Telecom Engineering.

  • Qualification – Engineering background for optical industry or comparable products.

  • Qualification – Minimum 5 years relevant work experience, preferably in optical test area.

  • Qualification – Have participated in at least three full optical product design life cycles working in multiple system areas.

  • Personal Skill –Good written and spoken English

  • Personal Skill – Understanding of American culture and ways of doing business.

  • Personal Skill – Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Optical:

  • Personal Skill – Be able to read and understand EDFA optical diagram, or Optical engine block diagram. Know how to test them.

  • Experience – Be able to use Optical test instruments, Optical Spectrum Analyzer, eyes mask tester, Digital Communication Analyzer, etc.

Software:

  • Personal Skill – Must be accomplished in C# or Python

  • Personal Skill – Knowledge of National Instruments software suite, strongly preferred.

Manufacture Test:

  • Experience – Understanding of DFT, and manufacturing process.

  • Experience – In high volume manufacturing test design and manufacturing.
