We currently have a System Specialist role open on a current Defence contract! In this role you will work on a team that provides CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) Sensor Integration for the military.

You will provide the services of a subject matter expert to support the implementation of LCSS (Land Command Support System) CBRN Sensor Integration capabilities.

Tasks will include, but not limited it:

  • Coordinate and facilitate the integration of LCSS CBRN sensors.
  • Provide on-site support and advice to all LC4ISR (Land Command, Control, Computers, Communications, Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance) stakeholders and delivery teams.
  • Participate in and coordinate LCSS verification, validation activities and test events relating to CBRN sensor integration.
  • Participate in national and international standards working groups (WG), routine program meetings and domain specific conferences that will assist in the evolution of the CBRN Sensor Integration.
  • Participate in program Large Solution Increment, HQ Domain and Mobile Domain Program Increment events as necessary.
  • Provide Engineering architectural support in response to all CBRN observations SPRs.
  • Develop test plans for all LC4ISR CBRN sensor integration capabilities.
  • Provide direct, on-site support to Canadian Army and international events, exercises, and operations; and
  • Developing, designing, maintaining test beds, and test procedures.

Qualifications

  • Proof of STEM Diploma (2 year minimum) in networking, software, computers, systems, electrical, or a suitable engineering or technical field required to support Land C4ISR. Or proof of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) Bachelors’ Degree in networking, software, computers, systems, electrical)
  • A valid Secret Level 2 clearance with PSPC. (priority given to candidates who already hold this level of clearance, if eligible, can take up to 3-4 months to process)
  • Minimum of 72 months of demonstrated experience within the last 96 months in the preparation of technical concept documents, system specifications, and technical proposals in the field of Info Technology, Info Management or Engineering.
  • Minimum of 48 months of demonstrated experience in at least 3 of the following:
    • Communicating information technology frameworks/strategies to management and technical staff.
    • Communicating system engineering direction for projects or systems.
    • Providing advice, guidance, and recommendations on technical issues to support the decision making of senior management.
    • Participating in multidisciplinary teams in the development of IT tactical systems, frameworks, and strategies.
    • Performing strategic, operational, or tactical planning for projects or systems to meet corporate strategy.
  • Minimum 72 months of demonstrated experience within the last 96 months in a systems engineering role in a minimum of 4 of this assessment area’s criteria:
    • Demonstrated work experience in planning, configuring, employing, and managing command and control communication and information systems in a distributed platform environment or within a client/server environment, or ISTAR systems.
    • Demonstrated work experience in identifying, analyzing, and resolving complex communication and information system and/or ISTAR system problems.
    • Demonstrated work experience in analyzing, designing, and/or implementing solutions for communication and information systems or ISTAR systems.
    • Demonstrated work experience in developing and documenting system management solutions (tools and processes) for command-and-control communication and information systems in mobile platforms or within a client/service environment or ISTAR systems.
    • Demonstrated work experience in system integration, verification and validation of hardware and software components (COTS and/or custom developed) in new or existing systems.
    • Demonstrated work experience in life-cycle management of tactical communication and information systems or ISTAR systems.

Additional Information

  • Initial contract period: ASAP to March 2026 with strong possibility of extension.
  • Must hold a valid Secret clearance with PSPC for this contract.
  • Work needs to be done on-site on a full-time basis. (as per client requirement)
