Tasks will include, but not limited to:
In this role, you will be part of the ISTAR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance) Command and Control team and will provide “System Specialist” support to ISTAR Command and Control (C2) activities.
- Coordinate with ISTAR C2 stakeholders to assist platform LCMM (Life Cycle Material Management) personnel, resolve integration & training issues.
- Maintain and create ISTAR C2 documentation and files.
- Maintain all relevant technical documentation regarding supported applications and equipment to support the Directorates corporate Information Management.
- Coordinate with other DND & government departments entities in support of ISTAR C2 activities.
- Track technical problems and solutions in using the Directorates collaborative environments to support configuration control and change management activities.
- Provide system specialist user audits and feedback.
- Conduct engineering and support LCMM management of ISTAR C2 equipment.
- Developing, designing and maintaining test beds, and test procedures; and
- Usability and Human Computer Interaction:
- Improve and enhance systems to satisfy users’ needs.
- Enhance usability, which is the measure of the quality of a user’s experience when interacting with a product or system by maximizing effectiveness (achieve goals with product), efficiency (time/effort required to complete tasks) and user satisfaction.
- Work closely with Software and Engineering teams to develop specialized Graphical User Interface on military embedded hardware devices or software designs for complex applications.
- Identify and create software user interface requirements and analysis of implementation; and
- Document the analysis, design, and test activities in accordance with development standards.
Qualifications
- Must have a valid Secret level security clearance with PSPC and Controlled Goods Certificate.
- Proof of STEM Diploma (2 years minimum) in networking, software, computer, systems, electrical, or a suitable engineering or technical field required to support Land C4ISR.
- Experience working in an AGILE environment.
- Working knowledge of the following programming languages: Python, C & Java.
- Knowledge of MIL standards (understanding Army structure)
- Must have 2 years experience as a Systems Specialist on Military C4ISR systems. (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance systems)
- 6 years’ of demonstrated experience within the last 8 years in the preparation of technical concept documents, system specifications, and technical proposals in the field of Information Technology / Information management or engineering.
- 6 years’ experience within the last 8 years in system engineering in a minimum of 4 of this assessment area’s criteria:
- Demonstrated work experience in planning, configuring, employing and managing command and control communication and information systems in a distributed platform environment or within a client/server environment, or ISTAR systems.
- Demonstrated work experience in identifying, analyzing and resolving complex communication and information system and/or ISTAR system problems.
- Demonstrated work experience in analyzing, designing and/or implementing solutions for communication and information systems or ISTAR systems.
- Demonstrated work experience in developing and documenting system management solutions (tools and processes) for command-and-control communication and information systems in mobile platforms or within a client/server environment, or ISTAR systems.
- Demonstrated work experience in system integration, verification and validation, for hardware and software components (COTS and/or custom developed) in new or existing systems.
- Demonstrated work experience in life-cycle management of tactical communication and information systems, or ISTAR systems.
- 6 years of experience in each of at least 3 of this assessment area’s criteria:
- Communicating information technology frameworks/strategies to management and technical staff.
- Communicating system engineering direction for projects or systems.
- Providing advice, guidance and recommendations on technical issues to support the decision-making of senior management.
- Participating in multidisciplinary teams in the development of IT tactical systems, frameworks or strategies.
- Performing strategic, operational or tactical planning for projects or systems to meet corporate strategy.
